THE GOAL:  Raise $90,000 to support the Boys & Girls Club of West Cook County.

The Club, located in Bellwood, serves area youth ages 6-17. Some members are high risk and disadvantaged. The theme of our 2015-16 fund campaign is “Great Futures Start Here.

THE NEIGHBORHOODS -- THE NEEDS

Approximately 3,400 school-aged youth live within 2.4 square miles of the Club.  Many need a safe and positive afterschool destination.  Without the Boys and Girls Club of West Cook County, many children and teenagers would not have a constructive, low cost afterschool option.

Some of our youth face obstacles in their path toward productive futures:

  • 17.4% live in poverty

  • 71%  who attend six nearby primary schools qualify for free-or-reduced lunch

  • 25.9% come from single-parent households and many more from non-custodial parents

  • 17.8% do not have a high school diploma at the ages of 18-24

  • Only 36% of the children in our SURROUNDING AREA meet or exceed state standard

The Boys & Girls Club of West Cook County provides its members with developmental strategies and quality programming to meet their growing needs. No organization is better prepared to meet the needs of these children than the Boys & Girls Club of West Cook County.

HISTORY

In 1956, the Boys & Girls Club of West Cook County was founded as the Boys Club of Bellwood.  Like others across the country, our Club was started by local residents and businesses who wanted to establish an organization that filled the emotional, social and physical needs of the boys of the community. In 1992, we officially welcomed girls as members and opened a new gymnasium. To acknowledge an expansion of services, we changed our name to the Boys & Girls Club of West Cook County in 2001.

You can help make it possible for our youth to continue to participate in activities and programs that will help steer them toward a happy, healthy and productive future.

Please invest in the children and teens at  the Boys & Girls Club of West Cook County.
